Attention all shoppers: the North is now closed.

It’s a good thing we stocked up in Tok, AK. Since crossing a time zone and an international border, we’ve yet to encounter anything resembling a grocery store.

Our first stop in Canada, Beaver Creek, boasts a dinner theater (closed) but has only dusty cans of Spam on the shelves of their “store”. We were lucky to find a loaf of frozen bread and six eggs to keep us going.

Since Beaver Creek, we’ve hit a handful of ghost towns and boarded-up hamlets. It feels like we missed the last flight out before some kind of impending catastrophe, which in a sense is accurate given the plummeting temperature and the snow creeping down the mountains. We’re about to sack Destruction Bay for all they’ve got! Our food bags are nearly empty. Then we’re on to the megalopolis known as Haines Junction before pressing on to Whitehorse, which we hope to reach by Monday afternoon.

It’s been very windy! but our spirits are high and the scenery is magical. Photos and details of our adventures to come in a couple of days.

Hope by now you’re in Whitehorse! They have actual grocery stores right? You guys are doing so great with your progress. Keep pedaling fast cuz it looks cold! Sure looking forward to the pictures (noticed Lucie got to be in the last batch!) It’s wonderful being able to follow your travels. Loving, warm thoughts coming your way.
