Chilling in Bogota

June 21st, 2010 · No Comments

We’re in Bogota! The capital of Colombia! And it’s cold! The average temperature here is 14 degrees Celsius. The evening we first arrived we were actually shivering for first time in four months (since Xela in Guatemala). We’re staying in Claudio’s Casa Ciclista on the outskirts of the city. We haven’t even been downtown yet. We’ve been hiding from the cold rain, making soup and brownies and talking about bike adventures with Claudio, who recently spent 5 years riding all over the place and is already planning his next adventure. So far we’re liking the city very much. It’s strange, though, to see fashion-conscious people bustling around and looking important after hanging out with laid-back ranch hands on dairy farms and rolling through tiny towns where no one wears shoes.
